About this course
This course introduces learners to the importance of social connection, friendship, and community inclusion for individuals with developmental disabilities. Participants will explore how the shift from institutional care to community-based living has transformed opportunities for meaningful relationships and belonging. The course emphasizes the direct support professional’s (DSP) role in fostering inclusion, supporting self-advocacy, and helping individuals build confidence and social success in everyday life.
