About this course
This course equips child care professionals with the knowledge and practical strategies to recognize, understand, and respond effectively to childhood trauma. Learners will explore the definition and types of trauma, behavioral indicators in children, the prevalence and impact of trauma, and the principles and goals of trauma-informed care.

By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Define trauma and explain how it affects children differently by age and development
- Identify common causes and types of trauma, including single-event, ongoing, and intergenerational trauma
- Recognize behavioral indicators of trauma in children and distinguish them from other behavioral issues

- Describe the five core principles of trauma-informed care and their application in daily practice
