OSHA Annual Safety Training for Direct Support Professionals: Universal Precautions, Bloodborne Pathogens & Hazard Communication

This annual OSHA training prepares Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in IDD/DDA group homes and day programs to work safely under two federal standards. Part one covers the Bloodborne Pathogens standard (29 CFR 1910.1030): what bloodborne pathogens are, universal and standard precautions, occupational exposure, the Exposure Control Plan, personal protective equipment, safe handling of sharps, spills, laundry and regulated waste, handwashing, the Hepatitis B vaccine offer, and exposure-incident response and reporting. Part two covers the Hazard Communication standard (29 CFR 1910.1200): hazardous chemicals in group homes, GHS labels and the nine pictograms, the 16-section Safety Data Sheet, the written program, safe use and storage, and the employee right to know. This course satisfies the DC DDS Phase III annual OSHA requirement.
