Colorado — HCPF OCL DSP Training
Tracks Colorado's pre-unsupervised training mandate for HCBS-DD/SLS direct care workers under 10 CCR 2505-10 § 8.7409.D — person-centered practices, health and safety, and an organized orientation program — plus the CDPHE QMAP medication regime. HCPF's OM 26-035 confirms the state's COTrain LTSS curriculum is one option, not the only acceptable method. Requirements follow the state's own regulation, not an invented curriculum.

Pathway curriculum
Each module shows the training or evidence that satisfies a requirement, when it is first due, and how often it must be renewed.
Before working unsupervised, staff must be trained in person-centered practices, the person-centered support plan, and dignity of risk (§ 8.7409.D). Provider-run programs satisfy this; COTrain is optional per OM 26-035.
Mapped training
Pre-unsupervised training must cover health and safety, including infection-control and safety basics appropriate to the people supported (§ 8.7409.D).
The organized orientation program required by § 8.7409.D includes emergency and disaster procedures as part of health-and-safety readiness.
Health/safety training must extend to diagnosis-specific needs of the people supported (§ 8.7409.D); general disability-specific coursework satisfies the transferable portion.
Settings Rule training is currently mandated for administrators/supervisors (OM 26-035), with direct-care-worker requirements deferred; awareness-level coverage for DSPs is included here ahead of future DCW guidance.
Unlicensed medication administration requires QMAP training through a CDPHE Approved Training Entity under 6 CCR 1011-1 Chapter 24; state-gated, so tracked as external evidence.
§ 8.7409.D requires training on each person's individual protocols before unsupervised work; person-specific by nature, so tracked as external evidence.
