North Carolina — DMH/DD/SUS DSP Training
Tracks North Carolina's licensure training requirements for paraprofessional direct support staff under 10A NCAC 27G .0202(g) and the de-escalation/restrictive-intervention mandate of 10A NCAC 27E .0107, as applied to Innovations Waiver providers (Medicaid CCP 8-P). Pathway curriculum
Each module shows the training or evidence that satisfies a requirement, when it is first due, and how often it must be renewed.
Orientation covering the organization's services and the direct support role, required for each new staff member under the governing body's training policies.
Mapped training
Training on client rights and confidentiality requirements for all staff, per the facility's required training policies.
Training specific to the population served — for Innovations providers, competencies in supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities consistent with each individual's habilitation plan.
Training on infectious diseases and bloodborne pathogens for all direct care staff, per the facility's required training policies.
Competency-based de-escalation and (where used) restrictive-intervention training completed before service delivery and annually thereafter, using a curriculum on the Division's approved list (5/23/2024 list; the state NCI curriculum was retired in 2018). Upload the approved-curriculum certificate each year.
First Aid — including seizure management — and CPR certification so that trained staff are on duty as required by 27G .0202(h). Hands-on skills components cannot be met by online-only coursework; maintain a current card per the certifying body's renewal cycle.
Unlicensed staff may administer medications only after training by a registered nurse, pharmacist, or other legally qualified person under 27G .0209(c); North Carolina prescribes no state curriculum. Upload the trainer-signed competency record.
