New Hampshire — DHHS BDS DSP Training
Tracks the staged direct support workforce training checklist in He-M 506 (readopted Aug 2024) for New Hampshire developmental services: rights within 1 month, person-centered thinking within 3 months under an NCAPPS- or NADSP-recognized model, the 6-month topical curriculum, and annual rights renewal. Follows the state's own rule — an open market with no state approval process — and tracks shadowing, individual-specific competency checks, and He-M 1201 medication training as external evidence.

Pathway curriculum
Each module shows the training or evidence that satisfies a requirement, when it is first due, and how often it must be renewed.
Within 1 month of hire: training on client rights under He-M 202 and He-M 310 and on understanding behavior as communication.
Mapped training
Within 3 months of hire: person-centered thinking training under a model recognized by NCAPPS or NADSP, repeated every 5 years.
In addition to the 5-year person-centered thinking competency cycle, every provider, staff member, and contractor with direct contact with individuals and families must take at least one person-centered thinking course each year, under an NCAPPS- or NADSP-recognized model. Certain service-only providers are exempt under He-M 504.11(e).
Part of the 6-month topical curriculum: overview of developmental disabilities and the developmental services system.
Part of the 6-month topical curriculum: positive behavior support, quality of life and valued social roles, skill teaching, supported employment, and self-advocacy.
Part of the 6-month topical curriculum: health and safety, including fire safety.
Annual renewal of rights training under He-M 506.
Before working alone: training specific to each individual served, with a supervisor competency check repeated annually. Person-served-specific — track observation/competency evidence here.
New staff must complete at least 16 hours of shadowing experienced staff. On-the-job — track evidence here.
Medication administration requires the state's He-M 1201 curriculum (at least 8 hours) delivered through BDS nurse trainers. Track certification evidence here.
