Texas — HHSC HCS/TxHmL DSP Training
Tracks the staff training mandate for Home and Community-based Services (HCS) and Texas Home Living (TxHmL) providers under 26 TAC Chapters 263 and 565, including abuse/neglect/exploitation competency (§565.7), rights training, and the annual individual-specific training cycle. Built for direct support professionals at HHSC-contracted HCS/TxHmL program providers. Follows Texas's own rules — §565.7 expressly allows a provider's own ANE curriculum as an alternative to HHSC's free module.

Pathway curriculum
Each module shows the training or evidence that satisfies a requirement, when it is first due, and how often it must be renewed.
Training on recognizing, preventing, and reporting abuse, neglect, and exploitation, completed before direct contact and refreshed annually. §565.7 accepts either HHSC's free ANE Competency Training (80% passing score) or the provider's own equivalent curriculum.
Mapped training
At least one hour of annual training on the duty to report suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation to the Department of Family and Protective Services, including how and when to make a report.
Training on the rights of individuals receiving HCS/TxHmL services and the staff member's duty to protect, promote, and exercise-support those rights, completed before providing services.
Supporting foundational coverage — universal precautions, communicable disease awareness, and basic workplace safety — commonly adopted in HCS provider training policies that implement §263.901's staff-competency obligations.
Supporting foundational coverage — emergency and disaster response, fire safety, and hazard awareness in home and community settings — adopted under provider training policies implementing §263.901.
Training on each individual's specific needs, plan, and supports before providing services and at least every 12 months thereafter, with competency observed and documented by the program provider. Person-specific by nature — tracked as external evidence.
HHSC-approved online Introduction to Person-Centered Planning module, required within 90 days for staff delivering CFC PAS/HAB services. Delivered on HHSC's own platform — tracked as external evidence.
HHSC behavioral emergency/behavior support policy training for staff implementing behavior support plans, refreshed every three years. Uses HHSC's designated content — tracked as external evidence.
HCS has no medication-aide certification path — unlicensed DSPs administer medications only under RN delegation per the Texas Nurse Practice Act (Ch. 557 aide permits apply to ICF/IID settings, not HCS). Document the RN's delegation and training as external evidence.
