Georgia — DBHDD DSP Training
Tracks Georgia DBHDD's staff training mandate for NOW/COMP waiver providers (Provider Manual Part II, Section 1.E and the IDD Certification Review Instrument): pre-contact orientation, the 60-day topic set, and a minimum of 16 hours of competency-based annual training. Pathway curriculum
Each module shows the training or evidence that satisfies a requirement, when it is first due, and how often it must be renewed.
Before any individual contact: orientation to the provider's scope and policies, HIPAA/confidentiality, and the human rights of individuals served.
Mapped training
Recognition and reporting of abuse, neglect, and exploitation, required before any individual contact.
Training in person-centered values, holistic needs, and human rights within 60 days of hire.
Training in cultural diversity and competency within 60 days of hire.
Training in fire safety and emergency/disaster procedures within 60 days of hire.
Training in standard precautions/infection control and in body mechanics and safe lifting within 60 days of hire.
Training in suicide prevention (e.g., AIM or QPRP-aligned) and in dual diagnosis of IDD and mental illness within 60 days of hire.
Training in professional ethics for direct support work within 60 days of hire.
A minimum of 16 hours per year of competency-based training, including repeats of required topics; the hour count is tracked against courses mapped here.
Behavior support and crisis de-escalation training through a nationally benchmarked system (e.g., CPI, Mandt, Safety-Care) plus Georgia Crisis Response System (GCRS) familiarization, within 60 days of hire. Upload the system certificate.
Basic cardiac life support (written and hands-on components; AHA/HSI/ARC) and first aid & safety within 60 days of hire. The hands-on component cannot be met online; maintain a current card per the certifying body's cycle. Upload the certificate.
Training on each individual's medications and side effects, with unlicensed administration only via RN-delegated proxy-caregiver arrangements (supervision of self-administration per Part II § 1.D). Individual-specific — upload the delegation/competency record.
