Nebraska — DHHS DDD DSP Training
Tracks Nebraska's staged direct-support training mandate under 404 NAC 4-003.03: pre-service orientation, a 30-day emergency block, and a 180-day implementation block, plus the Medication Aide Act and Division-approved ESI requirements. For DSPs serving DHHS Division of Developmental Disabilities waiver participants. Requirements follow the state's own regulation, not an invented curriculum.

Pathway curriculum
Each module shows the training or evidence that satisfies a requirement, when it is first due, and how often it must be renewed.
Before working unsupervised, staff must be oriented to participant choice, individual rights, confidentiality, and dignity (pre-solo orientation block of 404 NAC 4-003.03).
Mapped training
Pre-solo orientation must cover abuse, neglect, and exploitation and Nebraska reporting law. DDD maintains an approved list of 17 ANE training sources ("choose one" — including a free DHHS PDF, Relias as one option among many, and agency-developed curricula); additional sources may be accepted by the Division.
Pre-solo orientation must cover each participant's individual support plan and individual protocols; person-centered planning coursework satisfies the general-knowledge portion.
Within 30 days, staff must complete the emergency block: emergency procedures and first-aid knowledge content (the in-person CPR skills evaluation is tracked separately as external evidence).
Within 30 days, staff must complete infection-control training (universal precautions, communicable disease prevention).
Within 180 days, staff must complete positive-supports training as part of the implementation block; clinician-led instruction applies where a participant carries a risk endorsement.
Within 180 days, staff must be trained on ISP implementation, habilitation strategies, and the adaptive/assistive devices used by the people they support.
The 30-day block requires CPR with an in-person skills evaluation; hands-on certification must come from a recognized certifying program, so it is tracked as external evidence.
Emergency Safety Intervention training must use Division-approved techniques — currently the Mandt System exclusively per DDD Bulletin 24-01 (that exclusivity is under litigation as of 8/2025). Tracked as external evidence.
Staff who administer or provide medications must comply with Nebraska's Medication Aide Act registry (the 40-hour course applies in ICF/DD settings; community providers use competency-based routes). State-gated, so tracked as external evidence.
