South Dakota — DHS DDD DSP Training
Tracks South Dakota's tiered staff-orientation mandate for community support providers under ARSD 46:11:04:15.01 (pre-duty, 30-day, and 6-month blocks) plus the RN-supervised medication curriculum under ARSD 46:11:07:07. For direct support staff of DHS Division of Developmental Disabilities-certified CSPs. Requirements follow the state's own administrative rules, not an invented curriculum.
One organized view of what each learner has completed, what is still due, and what needs to be renewed.
Pathway curriculum
Each module shows the training or evidence that satisfies a requirement, when it is first due, and how often it must be renewed.
Before assuming duties, staff must be oriented to agency policies and procedures and to emergency and evacuation procedures (pre-duty tier of the ARSD 46:11:04:15.01 staged orientation).
Mapped training
Recognition and reporting of abuse, neglect, and exploitation must be covered before staff assume duties (pre-duty tier).
Within 30 days of hire, staff must complete training on their specific job duties and on the rights of the people they support.
Within 6 months, staff must be trained in positive behavior support practices and the ethics of behavioral intervention.
Within 6 months, staff must be trained on the individual service plan and person-centered implementation for the people they support.
Within 6 months, staff must complete disability awareness training and training on communication devices used by the people they support.
First aid and CPR certification is required within the 6-month tier; the hands-on skills evaluation must come from an in-person certifying program, so it is tracked as external evidence.
Training in the agency's approved safety-intervention (restraint/crisis) techniques is required within 6 months and must use an approved curriculum, so it is tracked as external evidence.
Unlicensed staff who assist with medication must complete a 20-hour provider-developed curriculum delivered under RN supervision and submitted to the Division for approval, with annual proficiency checks. State-approved and RN-supervised, so tracked as external evidence.
