About this program
Home health aides who work for a home health agency that takes Medicare need at least 12 hours of in-service training in every 12-month period. This program covers those subjects in 12 narrated courses: infection control and basic safety, bloodborne pathogens, communication, reporting incidents and changes in condition, emergency preparedness, the psychosocial and cognitive needs of older adults, a two-hour dementia care refresher, elder abuse and neglect, safe lifting and transfers, nutrition, skin and wound care, and help with activities of daily living. Every course works on a phone, tablet or computer, saves your place, and ends with a short quiz. Finish all 12 and download a certificate of completion that shows the program title, your name and the date. Federal rules say in-service training may be offered by any organization and must be supervised by a registered nurse (42 CFR 484.80(d)), so your agency's RN oversees your in-service and keeps your record.
