Mississippi — DMH Bureau of IDD DSP Training
Tracks the staff training mandate in the Mississippi Department of Mental Health Operational Standards (Title 24, Part 2): full orientation on all required topics before any contact with people served (Rule 2-12.2) and a minimum 15 hours of annual continuing education for unlicensed direct staff, including at least 2 hours each of cultural competency and ethics (Rule 2-12.4). Built for DSPs at DMH-certified IDD providers; follows the state's own operational standards, which leave course delivery to the provider except for named gates like in-person CPR and the DMH-approved de-escalation technique.

Pre-contact orientation coverage of the rights of people served, confidentiality, and recognizing and reporting abuse, neglect, and exploitation under the Vulnerable Persons Act. Required before any contact with people receiving services.
Mapped training
Pre-contact orientation coverage of infection control and universal precautions. Required before any contact with people receiving services.
Pre-contact orientation coverage of positive behavior support and the federal HCBS settings rule. Required before any contact with people receiving services.
Pre-contact orientation coverage of the DMH Operational Standards themselves, record-keeping, and service documentation. Required before any contact with people receiving services.
Pre-contact orientation coverage of health and safety in service settings and emergency procedures. Required before any contact with people receiving services.
Unlicensed direct staff must complete a minimum of 15 hours of continuing education annually, covering crisis intervention, person-centered planning, documentation, positive behavior support, infection control, the Vulnerable Persons Act/ANE, and the HCBS rule. The 2-hour cultural competency and 2-hour ethics minimums are tracked as their own rows.

CPR and First Aid must be completed live and in person through the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or another DMH-approved body — before contact (orientation) and maintained per the annual training set and the certifying body's card period. Before providing services, staff must be trained in a nationally recognized, DMH-approved de-escalation/crisis technique (e.g., MANDT or CPI), maintained per that technique's recertification schedule. Approved-curriculum gate — tracked as external evidence.
Orientation's medication-assistance topic for IDD services culminates in a supervised skills demonstration before staff assist with medications; document the didactic content and observed demonstration together. Skills-observation gate — tracked as external evidence.
