Illinois — IDHS DDD DSP Training
Tracks Illinois DSP training under 77 Ill. Adm. Code 395: 120 hours within 120 days (40 classroom + 80 OJT) with registration as a DD Aide on the Health Care Worker Registry, plus the Rule 50 abuse/neglect training on hire and every two years. Follows the state's own rule — classroom curricula may be the DHS curriculum, provider-modified with approval, or third-party curricula approved by DHS (77 IAC 395.130, two-year renewal); OJT, CPR/First Aid (ARC/AHA only), and Rule 116 medication authorization are tracked as external evidence.

Pathway curriculum
Each module shows the training or evidence that satisfies a requirement, when it is first due, and how often it must be renewed.
The 40-hour classroom curriculum's Introduction to Developmental Disabilities module (4 hours) under 77 IAC 395. Delivered via the DHS curriculum or a DHS-approved third-party curriculum (approval lane per 77 IAC 395.130).
Mapped training
The Human Rights module (4 hours) of the 40-hour classroom curriculum: rights of individuals receiving services and the DSP's role in upholding them. Eligible for the DHS third-party-approval lane.
The initial abuse/neglect/exploitation module (3 hours) of the classroom curriculum, covering recognition, prevention, and OIG reporting obligations. Eligible for the DHS third-party-approval lane.
The Communication module (4 hours): effective communication with and on behalf of individuals served, including alternative communication needs. Eligible for the DHS third-party-approval lane.
The Service Plans module (4 hours): person-centered service plan development and the DSP's role in implementation. Eligible for the DHS third-party-approval lane.
The Health & Safety block (15 hours) of the classroom curriculum: infection control, wellness, environmental and personal safety, and emergency response knowledge. The largest classroom block; eligible for the DHS third-party-approval lane. (The separate 6-hour CPR/First Aid component is external — ARC/AHA only.)
OIG Rule 50 (59 Ill. Adm. Code 50) abuse and neglect reporting training is required at hire and refreshed at least every two years for all staff of DHS-funded agencies.
Eighty hours of supervised on-the-job training must be completed within 120 days of hire alongside the classroom curriculum, before Health Care Worker Registry listing as a DD Aide. Site-based and individual-specific — track the provider's OJT documentation as external evidence.
The 6-hour CPR/First Aid component must be an American Red Cross or American Heart Association course with hands-on skills. Track the certification card as external evidence.
"Authorized Direct Support Person" medication administration under 59 Ill. Adm. Code 116 requires the DHS standardized curriculum delivered by a DHS-approved RN Nurse-Trainer, with annual re-evaluation. State-gated — track the nurse-trainer authorization record as external evidence.
