Utah — DSPD DSP Training
Tracks Utah's staff-training grids from 1915(c) waiver UT.0158 Appendix C (7/2025) for DSPD providers: an initial topic grid, a 6-month block, and a 12-hour annual in-service from year two on, with DSPD verifying compliance annually. Training is provider-delivered and documented; crisis systems accept multiple commercial curricula. Requirements follow the state's own waiver terms, not an invented curriculum.

Pathway curriculum
Each module shows the training or evidence that satisfies a requirement, when it is first due, and how often it must be renewed.
The initial grid requires training on individual rights, the DSPD Code of Conduct, and confidentiality before service delivery.
Mapped training
The initial grid requires abuse, neglect, and exploitation training including protective-services reporting obligations.
The initial grid requires orientation to the populations served (intellectual disability, related conditions, acquired brain injury).
The initial grid requires communicable-disease/infection-control training.
The initial grid requires emergency and crisis-response training (the hands-on behavior-crisis system certification is tracked separately as external evidence).
The initial grid requires positive behavior support training.
Within 6 months, staff must complete the second block: person-centered support planning, program rules and philosophy, the ADA, and fraud awareness.
From year two on, staff must complete 12 hours of annual in-service training (plus behavior training in licensed sites); DSPD verifies annually. The hour figure is tracked in documentation; mapped courses count toward it.
CPR certification is required within 90 days of hire; the hands-on skills component must come from an in-person certifying program, so it is tracked as external evidence.
Within 6 months, staff must certify in an accepted behavior-crisis intervention system (Mandt, SOAR, or PART are accepted); approved-curriculum certification is tracked as external evidence.
The initial grid includes medication training plus client-specific medication instruction; medication programs are state/nurse-gated and person-specific, so tracked as external evidence.
Provider leadership must complete the online DSPD MySupport orientation (a state-hosted module distinct from the DSP curriculum); tracked as external evidence.
